Loan Ready.
I collaborated with Point8 and VeracityColab to produce a charming, character-led 2D animation for Uqual, providing them with a warm and relatable way to guide prospective homeowners through the mortgage readiness process.

Challenge
(01)
Simplifying a complex financial journey into a relatable and human story.
Financial services tend to talk in a way that puts people off, which is a particular problem when the audience has just been turned down for a mortgage. Uqual needed to reach those people at a low moment and show them there's a way through, laid out clearly enough to follow. My job was to storyboard and animate so the process reads as a set of steps someone can actually take, without stripping out the reason they're taking them.

Solution
(02)
Animation and illustration used to map out the path to loan readiness.
Working closely with Point8 on the project, I created storyboards and helped animate the couple's journey through the process. Design was done in Illustrator, animation in After Effects, pulling together graphics and character work to walk through what Uqual actually does. The tone needed to stay warm without tipping into anything that felt unserious, so the motion is unhurried and the characters carry the story while the information stays easy to follow.

Conclusion
(03)
An explainer that gives people turned down for a mortgage a clear next step.
The finished explainer gives Uqual a single piece that covers what they do and how it works, for an audience across the US. It takes someone from the point of rejection through to understanding what loan readiness involves, in a way that treats them like a person rather than an application. The illustration and character work carry the warmth, so the process comes across as something manageable rather than another hurdle.
