Showing technology that has nothing to look at.
Klacci's systems run on heat detection and proximity sensing, neither of which you can see. The film needed to show them working, which meant inventing a visual language for each one from scratch. It had to look advanced enough to match what the product actually is, without the effects becoming the point. The security message had to stay readable underneath.

Solution

Thermal imaging and sensor visualisations built to react to what's happening in shot.
I developed the look and feel for the effects with the creative director at Point8, then handled the VFX across various scenes. Heat detection became a thermal treatment applied to the footage, and proximity sensing became pulsing, glowing waves. For the bag scan, I tracked x-ray graphics to the bag so the effect stays locked to it as it moves through the shot. All of it was built in After Effects.

Making the invisible part of the product visible.
Klacci ended up with a film that demonstrates how the systems work rather than describing it. The thermal treatment, the sensor waves and the x-ray scan each have their own look, so a viewer can tell which technology is being shown at any point. Tracking the x-ray graphics to the bag keeps the effect tied to the object being scanned, which is what makes it read as the system doing something rather than a graphic laid over the top.
