For a long time, my inspiration for animation has come from many places. Whether I'm browsing Vimeo, Dribbble or following someone's board on Pinterest, I'm always looking at new and interesting work to keep up-to-date with trends and styles.
Since having a daughter who’s now two years old, I've found inspiration in places I would never have previously thought of, children’s television. Yes, the sometimes annoying cartoons I have to sit through and watch over and over again. But actually, they often have some great inspiration.
As tedious as some shows can be, I love spending time with my daughter and seeing the enjoyment she gets from watching her favourite characters. What I didn't expect was to enjoy watching these shows myself, as I analyse the animation styles, colour palettes and the sounds used.
A perfect example of this is the 'Stick song' from the CBeebies show 'Hey Duggee' (see below).
My daughter loves to jump around whenever we play it, while I stare in awe at the beautiful animation and reminisce to similar tracks I would have been listening to in the 90's.
